Oklahoma Rules on Carbon Injections
In 2009, SB 610 authorized the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to regulate CO2 injection for storage in oil, gas, coal-bed methane, and mineral brine reservoirs. The bill provides exclusive jurisdiction to the Department of Environmental Quality to regulate CO2 injection for storage in other reservoirs, such as deep saline formations, basalt reservoirs, and salt domes.
