Kansas Rules on Carbon Injections

In 2007, HB 2419 defined a “carbon dioxide injection well,” as a well where carbon dioxide is injected for either enhanced hydrocarbon recovery or geologic storage. The bill directed the Kansas Corporation Commission to develop specific regulations establishing requirements, procedures, and standards for the safe and secure injection of carbon dioxide for both purposes.
