New York’s Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Make-Ready Program (2020)
In July 2020, the NY Public Service Commission approved a $700 million program funded by electric bills to help build more than 55,000 chargers by paying a portion of the transmission upgrades and site preparation work needed to install them. The commission also approved an extra boost for chargers located close to disadvantaged communities, support for four transit authorities to electrify buses, a utility service to support the electrification of commercial fleets and the creation of three new competitions aimed at reducing pollution and increasing access to clean transportation for environmental justice communities.
