West Virginia Ends Nuclear Ban
In February 2022, West Virginia passed legislation eliminating the state’s ban on nuclear power plants. The legislation repeals two clauses in Chapter 16 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931: Article 27A-1 and Article 27A-2, which ban the construction of “any nuclear power plant, nuclear factory or nuclear electric power generating plant” until a national radioactive waste facility is available.
