Oregon Forest Practices Act

The Oregon Forest Practices Act (FPA) sets standards for all commercial activities involving the establishment, management, or harvesting of trees on Oregon’s forestlands. The Act provided for field inspections with authority to shut an operation down for violations and with financial recourse in the form of penalties and property liens for corrective actions. The FPA has been amended formally four times to provide additional resource protection and numerous rules have changed almost annually within the administration of the FPA.
