National Institute of Food and Agriculture research funding

Little NIFA funding currently goes to climate. E.g., of $375 million sought in President Obama’s 2016 Budget, only $15 million was related to climate, and none of that was to go towards mitigation efforts. LPDD recommends that NIFA steadily increase the portion of funding for climate mitigation and adaptation, shifting research funding to projects designed to reduce GHGs or increase carbon sequestration.
