Western Solar Plan

The Bureau of Land Management’s Western Solar Plan categorized lands that are excluded from utility-scale solar energy development (about 79 million acres) and identified specific locations that are well suited for utility-scale production of solar energy (solar energy zones, about 285,000 acres). By undertaking environmental review over a large geographic area that included a detailed examination of species presence and habitat, it satisfied the requirements of NEAP and the ESA.
