Vermont Use Value Appraisal Program

In Vermont, property taxes for forest lands are based on the value of the land in its current use, rather than market value. This method allows for valuation of forestland based on the actual use of the property, rather than what the use might be if the property were sold or developed. This results in tax savings for the landowner of preserved forest.
