RE-Powering America’s Land Initiative

The US EPA has established the RE-Powering America’s Land Initiative to encourage and facilitate the development of renewable energy on disturbed lands. EPA has developed an online mapping tool that has preliminarily screened more than 80,000 sires on more than 43 million acres for solar, wind, biomass, and geothermal potential.

Version 3.0 of the tool was released in June 2022, featuring over 190,000 sites on 40 million acres of land, screened for solar, wind, biomass, and geothermal energy potential.
