Palo Alto’s EV-Readiness Ordinance

A 2014 Ordinance amending Palo Alto’s building code requires that all new single-family residences and commercial buildings (including multifamily dwellings, mixed-use facilities, and hotels) be “EV ready.” Non-residential properties must incorporate a combination of electric vehicle supply equipment, EV-ready outlets, and circuitry for new multi-family and commercial construction.
