Hawaii 100% Renewable Executive Order

In January 2025, Hawaii’s governor signed an Executive Order calling for the counties of Hawai’i, Kaua’i, and Maui to switch to 100% electricity production by 2035, and for O’ahu to reduce its electricity sector emissions 70 percent below 2005 levels by 2035. The order establishes new processes to speed permitting, prioritize budget requests, and increase utility collaboration on renewable projects.
