Form-Based Codes Institute

The Form-Based Codes Institute (FBCI) is a professional organization dedicated to advancing the understanding and use of form-based codes. Form-based codes focus on matching scale of development, allow for multiple uses to be near each other provided they are of appropriate scale, making it more likely residents are closer to their destinations.

The Institute’s website highlights best practices in form-based codes, drawing out the essential elements of a well-crafted code, and shares these as examples to study and use. Numerous examples of effective form-based codes are available in the Institute’s Library of Codes. The Institute also provides education through courses, workshops and webinars, and will conduct reviews and audits of existing codes under their Codes for Communities program.
