Existing Standards for Cement and Lime

EPA regulates cement and lime production and related industries through New Source Performance Standards that cover, among other things, kilms, clinker coolers, raw and rinish mill systems, raw mill dryers, raw material and clinker storage, product storage, transfer points, and bagging and bulk loading and unloading systems systems at Portland cement plants; calciners and dryers at mineral processing plants; rotary lime kilns in lime manufacturing plants; crushers, grinding mills. and other facilities at nonmetallic mineral processing plants; and glass melting furnaces. These provisions reflect standard for particulate matter, NOx, and SO2.
