California’s Automotive Refrigerant Rules

California adopted regulations in 2009 to reduce emissions from DIY mobile A/C units in cars and pickup trucks, and also included a deposit and recycling program to ensure proper disposal of used refrigerant cans and education program that emphasizes best practices for vehicle recharging.
