Existing standards for petrochemical facilities
At present, petrochemical facilities are regulated under New Source Performance Standards that cover, among other things, fluid catalytic cracking units, fuel gas combustion devices, fluid coking units, delayed coking units, and flares and sulfur recovery plants at petroleum refineries; process units in synthetic organic chemicals manufacturing facilities; and nitric acid production units. These provisions reflect standards for particulate matter, carbon monoxide, sulfur oxides, nitogren oxides, and volatile organic compounds.
